Built in the 8th century by Bappa Rawal, the fort has withstood three major sieges, each marked by heroic resistance and the ritual of jauhar—self-sacrifice by its women in sacred fire. Upon arrival in Bundi, check into your hotel. Later, explore Bundi, a charming city nestled among the Aravalli hills and encircled by a massive wall with four gateways. In the morning, drive to Ranthambore, located about 150 km from Bundi. This modern town has historical roots dating back to the Amer rulers (the Kachhawahas), who maintained a long-standing relationship with Sawai Madhopur. The Ranthambore Fort, situated 14 km away, was gifted to them by the Mughals, along with extensive surrounding forest land. The area around Sawai Madhopur is rich with historical remnants. As you explore, you'll find walls, wells, mosques, and hunting lodges scattered across the lush hills of the Vindhyas and Aravalis, offering a glimpse into its storied past. Route to Agra, stop at Fatehpur Sikri, located 195 km from Jaipur. This "ghost city," built from striking red sandstone, was erected by Emperor Akbar in honor of Saint Salim Chisti, who had prophesied the birth of Akbar's three sons. The city showcases a unique blend of robust stability and originality, with each significant structure standing out in its own right. Key highlights include the Diwan-e-Khas, the Panch Mahal, the Tomb of Salim Chisti, and the grand Buland Darwaza. Upon arrival in Agra, check in at your hotel.
